《８月のお知らせ》

What’s your plan for the summer vacation ? 夏本番です。夏の単語を思い浮かべてみると楽しい単語が並びます。Sunshine, beach, camping, summer festivals, fireworks・・・。

お盆休みは“Bon holiday before and after August 15”。この期間で有名な京都のお祭りが『五山の送り火』です。Wikipediaではこう説明されています。

“ five giant bonfires （たき火）are lit on mountains surrounding the city. It signifies the moment when the spirits (魂)of deceased family members, who are said to visit this world （この世）during O-Bon, are believed to be returning to the spirit world（あの世）—thus the name Okuribi ”

何度か見に行きましたが、夜空に浮かび上がる「大」の字は圧巻です。京阪電車の出町柳駅付近の鴨川の河原から見るのが大きく見えてお勧めです。お時間のある方はぜひお出かけください。
